Life In Provence Debuts New Product Line

Not Your Standard Jams or Herbs

SAN FRANCISCO – January 24, 2000. In keeping with the company’s ever increasing distribution -- 250 stores nationwide -- life in Provence continues to grow their product offering to meet the diverse needs of their customers. At the San Francisco Fancy Food Show, life in Provence will introduce five authentic Provencal jams, prepared using the old-fashioned recipes of "grande mamans" --  with a unique twist of flavor to please both traditionalists and trend setters. They will also showcase a new  herb collection featuring Herbes de Provence, Thyme and Rosemary.

Peter Mayle, the New York Times best-selling author of "A Year in Provence", commented on the new life in Provence jams, "These jams are classics, thick and juicy. I think they taste even better than home made."

The life in ProvenceÔ jams are prepared in Provence in the local tradition -- simmered in open cauldrons with plenty of the best fruits (apricot, strawberry, orange) and one or several rarer ingredients (almonds, rhubarb, grapefruit) to subtly enhance the jams to confer them their unique personalities. The new jams -- Apricot with Sliced Almond, Red Currant & Raspberry, Strawberry & Rhubarb, Provençal Fig, and Orange-Lemon-Grapefruit -- are currently available and are starting to be distributed nationally.

In Provence herbs grow wild on the hills to deliver the smell of the sun-soaked land and its richness to passersby. Thyme/Thym and  Rosemary/Romarin are both versatile and popular cooking herbs which are delicious for seasoning just about anything - game, poultry, grilled meat, fish, bread or a simple tomato-and-onion sauce. The life in Provence Herbes de Provence is a careful mélange of flavors that delivers the most classic combination: rosemary, thyme, basil, marjoram and savory.

“We want to share our passion for the relaxed and refined Provençal lifestyle through our foods, so that everyone can find the Provençal in themselves,” said Julien, Co-President, life in Provence. Adds Donatien, Co-President: "being Provencal means knowing what's important… living in harmony with the land… not taking things too seriously… a certain relaxed sophistication… it's more a lifestyle, not just a place, and everyone can be Provençal."
